Research Of American Nisei During WW II

This paper attempts to recall the whole developing history of Nisei who is the second generation of Japanese American migration in American, especially the rencontre that they suffered in world war II, and pay great attention on the milestone status of world war II to Nisei's developing history. There're six parts in this paper, such as introduction, main body, conclusion, appendix and reference.The introduction introduces the situation of current research about the Japanese American, especially the Nisei, sums up and summarizes briefly the relevant research products of foreign academic communities, and interprets the sense on choosing the title.The main body makes up four parts: part one reviews the history the Japanese American briefly including the situation and reason of ancient Japanese American, and compares Nisei with Issei in many aspects, such as how to treat assimilation and the relation to Japanese government. Part two mainly relates how the American government made decision to evacuate and relocate the Japanese American. The third part discusses when facing the wartime policy and on the double influence of the culture of Japanese and American, Nisei took a series of positive ways to certify their honesty to American government, including serviced in agriculture of west America, joined in Military Intelligence Service, organized army to fight for American, and Nisei women also took positive methods to help American win the war. The last part talks about the influence coming from the war, including the economic loss, the spiritual damage, and the improvement of the status of Nisei that express the world war II's breaking point status adequately, and also analysis the Nisei's identification problem in the present age, knowing this, we can find out the whole immigrant process of Asian American and the true purpose of the Model Minority Thesis. On the other hand, it has an important realistic sense on studying the immigrant problem in the present age of America.The conclusion summarizes the full paper briefly and draw this conclusion: During the turning period of WWII, influencing by the positive sprit of the main stream culture of America and Japanese traditional culture, Nisei made positive choice when facing the wartime unfair policy to show their honesty, and they received the turning point of fate just because of this difficult choice.
