In Xixia Dynasty(1038-1227), the phenomenon of empresses and their families participating in political affairs is very notable. In Xixia Dynasty, the empress and their families have an important impact on politics and the relationship between Xixia Dynasty and Song Dynasty, Liao Dynasty, Jin Dynasty, from empress Mozang to empress Liang to empress Luo. The academic circles have achieved fruitful results on the study of the empress and their families, but the result has some shortcomings on empress Luo and other imperial concubines. In this paper, the empress and their families in later Xixia Dynasty become the target of study, including princess Chengan, empress Cao, empress Ren, empress Wang and empress Luo. Author makes use of historical documents and Buddhist literatures unearthed in Heishui City to study from a political angle. I hope to fill in the gaps in the fields of studying the empress and their families in later Xixia Dynasty. The dissertation is made up of three chapters, including the introduction. Chapter one makes a brief introduction to the relationship between the empress and their families and politics in Xixia Dynasty, pointing out that the previous research has made important achievements, but there are still some problems. Chapter two discusses the relationship between princess Chengan, empress Cao,empress Ren and their families and politics during the rule of emperor Qianshun. Author thought that princess Chengan played a key role in the relationship between Xixia Dynasty and Liao Dynasty. Chapter three describes the relationship between empress Wang, empress Luo and their families and politics. During the rule of emperor Renxiao, some good policies that were carried out had closely relation with empress Wang. Empress Luo is a controversial Empress Dowager in Xixia Dynasty. In the current academic circles, many people thought that she participated in the activities of emperor Anquan's usurper. However, author thought that she was only a victim of political struggle. She was also a good queen.
