The Study Of Language Characteristics Of He Liwei's Novels

Literary language plays an important role in the study of Linguistics. In the light of linguistics, this paper, integrating theory with practice and adopting the point-and-surface, inductive and comparative methods, aims at carrying through an in-depth analysis and exposition of the language of He Liwei's novels. Six chapters included are as follows:The first chapter gives a brief account of the relationship between literature and linguistics, the writer He liwei and his novels, the status quo of current research, research methods, purpose, meaning and corpus sources of the paper. The second chapter explores the musical features of the language of He Liwei's novels by deeply analyzing and inquiring into many aspects, including the overlapping words and the repeated sentences, the symmetric syllables and words and the symmetrically balanced sentences, the mixed use of long and short sentences and many casual sentences, and the proper rhythm arrangements. The third chapter reveals the strong local characteristic of the language of He liwei's novels which is the most distinguishing characteristic of his novel language, by analyzing and exploring the employment of Changsha Dialect, like verb, adjective and adverb, noun, region noun and so on; as well as analyzing vulgar languages, people's appellations and their naming, also sayings and songs to manifest its local breath of his novel language. The fourth chapter explores the vividness of the language of He liwei' novels through deeply exploring two aspects---the refinement of verbs and the utilization of rhetoric. The fifth chapter demonstrates the unfamiliar language of He Liwei's novel by doing detailed analysis in two aspects: firstly, the use of abnormal sentence patterns; secondly, the study of the unusual collocation. The last chapter is conclusion which briefly summarizes the artistic features of the language of He liwei' novels based on the above five chapters' analyses.In brief, this paper catches thorough and gives a comprehensive understanding of the language's characteristics of He Liwei's novels through the systematical induction, analysis and research carrying on almost all of his novels.
