Discussion On Zong Baihua's Aesthetic Exploration To Chinese Cultural Spirit

Zong Baihua is one of the founders of Chinese modern Aesthetics and Theory of Literature and Art. His thoughts have become focal point of academic research since 1980s and have drawn many researchers'academic interest. As a prominent aesthetician in the history of Chinese aesthetics in 20^th century, Zong Baihua, putting art experience as the basic point and regarding exploration of Chinese cultural spirit as the final purport of his aesthetics research, has found the key conception of Chinese modern cultural spirit——lively but orderly, and has built a special aesthetics theory which regard life and rhythm as the core, art realm as the symbolization and ideal personality as the aim, and has developed an aesthetics way of exploring Chinese cultural spirit which promote the modern transform of Chinese culture and aesthetics.The period of the May 4^th Movement, Chinese society accelerated its reform from tradition, and presented a problem which is people's spiritual ignorance, boring and fear. After 1930s, invasion of Japan strengthened the live crisis of nation, and also present a problem which is how to bestir nation spirit and self-confidence. No matter which problem, the question of modernity was all reflected on Chinese cultural spirit. Therefore, this paper firstly discusses the internal relationship between the certain cultural and historical contexts which Zong Baihua lives in and the formation of his aesthetics theory, which mainly talk about the period of the May 4^th movement and 1930s and 1940s. Secondly, this paper mainly researches Zong Baihua's aesthetics exploration of Chinese cultural spirit. He got into Chinese cultural palace from researching art experience, aesthetic pattern and individual life sentiment, built an aesthetics theory which regards life as the core, art realm as the symbolization, and ideal personality as the aim. Finally, this paper analyses and explores the special train of thoughts and research methods of Zong Baihua exploring Chinese cultural spirit and building his aesthetics theory. He combined Chinese with western research methods and united comprehension and demonstration to make art facts and cultural spirit prove and explain each other, which formed his special aesthetics pattern. Besides, this paper also discusses Zong Baihua's positive contribution to promote modern transform of Chinese aesthetics.
