The New Exploration Of The Origin Of Western Theories Of Zong Baihua's 'Yijing'

Zong Baihua's aesthetic thought has a strong western impression.Yijing(artistic conception)is one of the most important concepts in Zong Baihua's aesthetic thought.Professor Luo put forward Cassirer's influence on the western learning origin of Zong Baihua's theory of artistic conception.There is a debatable point in this view.Although Zong Baihua's ‘Formal Theory' has certain resemblance with Cassirer's thoughts in terms of connotation and function,they have essential differences.German classical aesthetics,especially Kant's aesthetics and German romanticism,is their common source of thought,and that is the reasons for the similarities between the two thoughts.However,in the aspect of Kant's aesthetic acceptance,Zong Baihua focused on ontology,while Cassiel focused on epistemology,which results in the essential differences between the two thoughts.As for the acceptance of German romanticism,compared with Cassiel,Zong Baihua was far influenced by German romantic spirit and had a more thorough implementation of the German romantic spirit.Investigating the romantic elements in Zong Baihua's aesthetic thought,we can easily find that he has been influenced by the German romantic pioneer Novalis.Zong Baihua and Novalis have several similarities in the construction of the relationship between mind and nature.The metaphysical connotation of "music" in Zong Baihua's theory is related to the metaphysical connotation of "poetry" in Novalis' thought,and so is the symbolic meaning of "cloud" and "dark night" in the poem of "liuyun" by Zong Baihua.Therefore,the element of romanticism in Zong Baihua's thought developed on the basis of Novalis' thought.Although the romantic elements of Zong Baihua's artistic thought are traced from Novalis,Zong Baihua's abundant knowledge of sinology and his adherence to Chinese traditional thought have made him fuse and surpass it on the basis of Western learning.Zong Baihua has devoted himself to the development of our contemporary aesthetics,and has provided a methodological basis on the reference,integration,transformation and innovation of Western aesthetics.
