In the coming world, information is power. Availability to information and the dissemination of information will become an important symbol to measure a people's status and its influence in the world. To meet the need of rapid economic and social development, English newspapers become an important media to spread news and information. A good knowledge of the stylistic features of written English news reporting is of great importance to those who want to improve their English by reading English newspapers and magazines. Even in some non-English-speaking countries, such as China, English newspapers are published. For example, China Daily is one of the most popular English newspapers in China. Language learning is a process of practice. For English learners, by reading newspapers they can learn the latest English and understand the changing world. Readers not only can expand the volume of vocabulary also can enhance sense of the phrase, and understand the connotation of words, and it is one of most important, most succinct, the most effective ways. However, there are also many styles in English newspapers. English learners find that in the same English reports exist similarities and differences between the English news reports composed by native speakers of English and those by speakers of EFL. Less works concerning a systematic and comparative analysis between those published in China and those in Britain is rarely seen in the linguistic circle. In this research, six articles published in nearly one year in three groups are selected from China Daily and The Times. And in the light of the theory of general stylistics they reveal that the linguistic differences are existent chiefly at the graphological, lexical, and syntactical levels. The present study aims to detect stylistic similarities and differences between English news reporting in China'English newspaper ( China Daily) and British newspaper ( The Times) on the assumption that there do exist stylistic similarities and differences though both of them are English language newspapers in order to enrich the study of journalistic English as well as enrich the theory of stylistics by widening its application. This thesis deepens and expands English news research on stylistic aspect by comparative study, at the same time, carefully selected corpus of style also expands the scope of application of the theories, in addition, the study is of a certain reference value to English variant in China. This paper in the comparison of the style between Chinese newspapers and British newspapers is very significant to China's English learners and teaching, so as to they have more targeted, more effective learning and training, further enhance their level of language .
