Hume Problem: The Study Of Jin Yelling's Answer

Hume David was a famous empirical philosopher in England. He proposed the famous inductive problem, which lied in"some doubt on the role of comprehension"from the book—《An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding》.The content of Hume's Problem is: What definition will insure us the true existence of any facts except in the proof of sense and the record of memory? What is the essence of the definition? Simply speaking, Hume propounded a problem referring to the rationality of inductive method .It was"Where is the rationality of entire conclusions from experience?"Later, people named it Hume's Problem.After Hume proposed Hume's Problem, it gave the great shock to philosophy. At the same time, many philosophers gave their own answers. Jin Yelling was a famous philosopher and logician in China, who was the first man to deeply research Hume's Problem. Resolving the Hume's Problem, he had two books—《Theory of Knowledge》and《Dispute of the TAO》.He put forward that the intrinsic reason of Hume not resolving the problem, because of the intramural paradox of his theoretical system. Jin Yelling pointed out,"Hume's philosophy only let him not admit notion but imagist. Imagist is concrete and notion is abstract. Because he doesn't admit notion, he can't have the thought of abstraction in his theory. Also, he doesn't admit the thought of abstraction, so the philosophical problem is impossible to make sense."So, Jin Yelling pointed out that the notion of abstraction was the key to resolve Hume's Problem. He thought that presentation and imagist didn't have description and law. Only abstract notion or perception has the impact of description and law. Only description and law interact at the same time, order can be set up. Then this can resolve Hume's Problem radically. Based on, Jin Yelling proposed his own ideas. There were three main points: Inductive principle is accepting principle; Inductive principle is transcendental and forever true principle; Reason has certain while tendency doesn't have.This paper redefines Hume's Problem and carries on a remark on Jin Yelling's ideas. With the development of modern science, on one side, we may know about Hume's Problem and the development and variation of western philosophy in the theory of knowledge in the modern times. This will propel us to research in order to let the theory of knowledge develop deeply. On the other side, this will conduce the development of logic, especially inductive logic, meanwhile, clarify the basic of science method's theory.
