As a cross-cultural communication activity, translation is influenced by cultural differences. In the process of translation, whether the translator can accurately understand the original text, largely depends on his or her mastery of original culture information. It is not rare that the misunderstanding of culture background information may lead to the inaccurate translation.Religious culture is an important component of human culture, which consists of various religious aspects, such as tenets, rituals, holy orders, dress, religious activities and places. Due to the different cultural features, each religious culture has its own forms of expression, so translators should not confuse one religious culture with another.Through the contrastive analysis of examples in three different Chinese translated versions of Brothers Karamazov, the typical representation of Dostoyevsky's religious thought, this thesis aims at revealing the features, tenets of religious culture. After analyzing quotations from the Bible, activities and places of Christian, Christian beliefs, clergies as well as their garments from the prospective of naturalization and alienation, this thesis concludes that in most cases of the translation of cultural phenomena in religion, translators should better use the alienation strategy.
