The Narrative And Aesthetic Study Of SUZHOU RIVER

In 2000,the movie SUZHOU RIVER won many international prizes. Although it can't be play in china, it had a good sale in bootleg market. The reason why it was so successful is that it has a special narration and this narration gives audiences shocking effects. This essay is different of the traditional study ways. Through Chinese Traditional Aesthetic Theory and Western Modern Movie Theory, it's focus on the narrative time and space, narrative sight, character, narrative structure and narrative environment to find the movie's special study value and meanings. From my studies, I have four new points. The first, this movie has narrative creations. They are the special property that has both copy narration and arts narration, and the unstable narrative style. The second, most professionals think that the sixth movies of China are copes of Western modern movies, but through this movie, we can find the relation between the movie and Chinese Traditional Aesthetics.
