The Study On Chinese And Western Chair's Design Comparison

Transforming from traditional to modern, there are many changes of chair design. The social development brings new material, technology, manufacturing craft and many other advantages which significantly influence chair design. At the same time, the development of cultural enriches the connotation of chair design. The history of chair design can fully reflect the feature of eastern and western design history. Therefore, studying the comparative research on chair design is a feasible and meaningful method to solve the problems encountered in modern design.Culture played a vital role in the development of chair design both in east and west. On one hand, the cultural difference of the two societies causes the difference of chair design. On the other hand, the cultural communication causes the interaction of chair design. Our cultural has been globalized today. Recognition of the important role culture played in promoting design development can speed up the innovation of modern chair design in China. This article is also based on culture.First, the author enumerated different chair design examples and evolution in eastern and western design history and found out the development venation of chair design. Second, the author analyzed the difference of chair design from shape, material, function and decoration and sought the reasons from the different cultural background of eastern and western society. Then there was a further study on the interaction of chair design in eastern and western society under the cultural intercommunion background. The interaction not only came from eastern and western society, but also came from traditional and modern design manners. Finally, based on the study of comparison research on chair design, the paper summarized the advantage and the weakness of innovation of chair design in China. Based on the study of influence research on chair design in the east and west, the paper described the important role our country played in design innovation. It is essential for our country to provide a good external environment for the design innovation. As a conclusion, the author made a forecast of the innovation of modern chair design in China, and put up with some conceivable comments and feasible suggestions.
