Research On The Problem Of Wester Han'Officials Who Surrendered To Xiongnu

In the beginning of the Western han dynasty, Xiongnu leaded by Modu Chanyu grew up rapidly in the north of our nation, and developed to be a nationality that could match the Western han dynasty. As the two states'actual strength changed, their relationship changed too. Sometimes they communicated peacefully, but sometimes they were at war. In the history of the two states'relationship, some Western han dynasty'officials surrendered to Xiongnu for some reasons. In recent years, some scholars have begun to research the problem of Central Plains'population who moved into xiongnu. However, there has been no special article that studies the officials especially upper stratum officials who surrendered to Xiongnu. This dissertation will do a preliminary study, and I hope it can fill up the sholarly blank.At the base of collecting various kinds of document data, this dissertation researches the problem of Western han dynasty'officials who surrendered to Xiongnu systematically. It analyzes the background and reasons, discusses the type of surrender and elaborates the officials'status in Xiongnu and their influence to the two states.
