A Study On Envoys From The Western Han Dynasty To Xiongnu And The Western Regions

Xiongnu had endangered the Northern and Western frontier of the Western Han Dynasty and even threatened the stability of the regime from the initial stage of the Western Han Dynasty to the earlier stage of Wu empire. As a result, the government stressed the importance of the relationship between the Western Han Dynasty. During the course, the envoys played a significant part on the political stage of the Western Han Dynasty and the Western Regions. The paper makes preliminary research on the group of envoys on the basis of former study. It displays that the group of envoys plays a very important role in communicating with Xiongnu and the Western Regions and makes great contribution for unification of multiple nation.The essay consists of six sections. The first part is preface. The second part elaborates the motivation that the envoys had a visit of Xiongnu and the Western Regions. The third part mainly emphasizes on division of the envoys for Xiongnu and the Western Regions, means and requests of selecting these envoys and their origin. The forth part introduces their diplomatic activities in political, economic and cultural field in the process of communicating with Xiongnu and the Western Regions. The fifth part summarizes the effect and characteristics of the envoys from the Western Han Dynasty to Xiongnu and the Western Regions. The last part is a conclusion of the whole article.
