The Research On Economic Relation Between Sui Dynasty And Turk

The Sui Dynasty is an important period in Chinese history. It ended the splitting situation of Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties and established the unified feudal dynasty. At the same time, Turk rose on the northern grassland and became powerful gradually. It established the unified nomadic regime and became noticeable strength which confronted with Sui Dynasty. Under such condition, relations between Sui Dynasty and Turk, especially the economic relation is the main content in the national relationship. It not only affected the politics, economy and culture of Sui Dynasty, but also influenced the development and change of Turk. Therefore, from the view of national relationship history, economic relation between Sui Dynasty and Turk is an issue which is worth studying.The prerequisites and foundation of the establishment and development of economic relation between Sui Dynasty and Turk included: the economic and social development of both sides, those policies which were advantageous to economic contact between them, the different but complementary characteristics between nomadic economy and agricultural economy as well as the good development of economic relation between Turk and central plains dynasties before Sui Dynasty. The main contents of economic relation between Sui Dynasty and Turk were economic and trade contacts, such as the trade of tribute and bestowal, frontier trade, intermarriages for pacification, Turkic shop, long distance trade, and the folk flowing business etc. The characteristics of economic relation between Sui Dynasty and Turk involved not only the different objectives of the trade of tribute and bestowal, but an initiating precedent which the government managed frontier trade as well as a connecting link between the preceding and the following etc. At the same time, there are also some problems existing in the economic relation, such as the faults of economic policies, the singleness of the exchange goods, the not-standard management as well as the restraints of economic relation from the political relation and so on. However, the establishment and development of economic relation between Sui Dynasty and Turk had still played an important role in the politics, military affairs, culture, national relationship and the development of economic relation of Tang Dynasty.
