A Study Of Some Literati' Creative Achievements In Qingdao During The First Half Of The 20^th Century

In the first half of the 20^th century,Qingdao has been occupied by Germany and Japan, and under the rule of the Northern Warlords and the Nationalist government in Nanjing. During this short and unusual 50 years,Qingdao has experienced ups and downs,turbulence and changes,which include the anti-feudal,anti-colonial struggle,the rise of modern economy, the evolution of political power,the crush and integration of East culture and West culture,the rise and development of education,and the prosperity of the new culture.In this political, economic and social environment,many renowned scholars emerged in Qingdao.They lived in Qingdao in either short-term or long-term,and have had a positive effect on Qingdao's cultural development.Literature is part of culture,and Qingdao's literature development is inseparable from its social background,cultural and academic atmosphere.It's also inseparable from the literati' creations and activities.Literati in Qingdao have published many books and articles which embody their literary ideology and level.Their literature and literary activities has contributed to the development of Qingdao's literature.In order to study the literati' creative achievements in the first half of the 20^th century in Qingdao,first of all,it is needed to study Qingdao's social,cultural and academic development at that time to provide social and cultural environment where the literati' lived and wrote.Secondly,the trace of the literati' creative achievements and the conduction of a comprehensive and systematic excavation and research,is necessary in exploring its contributions to the development of Qingdao's literature.Finally,highly summarized and summed up the literati' contributions to the literary development of Qingdao.In addition to the full text of introduction and conclusion,this thesis is divided into three chapters.Chapterâ… the social,cultural and academic background of Qingdao in the first half the 20^th century.Chapterâ…¡the activities and achievement of the literati in Qingdao during the first half of the 20^th century.Chapterâ…¢the role of the literati in the literary development in Qingdao in the first half of the 20^th century.In the first chapter,a comprehensive study is conducted on Qingdao's social unrest and changes,its culture and academic development.In the second chapter,the focus is on the activities,literacy creations and contributions of the following literati:Wang Tongzhao,Yang Zhensheng,Liang Shiqiu,Wen Yiduo,Hong Shen,Lao She,Shen Congwen,Zang Kejia, Xiao Jun,Xiao Hong,Wang Dulu.The third chapter concludes the contribution of these literati to Qingdao's literature development from three aspects:Their pioneering role for the modem literature;they brought the summit of modern literature;their contributions to the spread of the Western literature.Qingdao's literature development is inseparable from the shoulders of their predecessors,through the study of the literati' creative achievements in Qingdao in the first half of the 20th century,we can clearly understand the historical lines of development in Qingdao's literary.We can also provide information on literature for the study of future generations.This study has great significance in exploring cultural advantages; promote the development of traditional culture in the future.
