'Space' is a very important philosophical concept. It has a close relationship with human society and human kind. However, the previous expositions on space are mostly about the different interpretations and the concept of Evolution in philosophy. In sociology the concept of space mostly appears in works on city construction. It is rare to see those works on 'space' from an aesthetic perspective of significance to interpret the aesthetics concerning human living space, and to take a further research into the people-space harmonious relationship and into the living conditions of people. In the modern context, to cut into the concept of space from an aesthetic perspective carries a very strong sense of realism and of times. Following this line the paper will start with the typical and related concepts of 'space' in the Western and Eastern history, and analyze or card the characteristics of the space in the modern context with a purpose to point out the problem of alienation in modern space. On the basis of this there will be individual case studies concerning aesthetic space from different levels. Three representative figures in aesthetic filed have been chosen—Heidegger, Marx and Zong Baihua. In the final part on the basis of the theoretical discussion of aesthetic space in the previous parts I try to put forward and expound the prototype concept of aesthetic space in the hope that people would change the living space following the ideal of aesthetic 'space'. The content is specifically addressed as follows:The first part composes three parts: First of all, the concepts of space, location, and the environment are introduced. Thereafter it points out that the concept of space in human's mind is the location, and that the 'space' involved into human activities achieving a significance is called the environment; then it comes the carding of the stereotypical concepts of 'space' in the western and eastern history, mainly focusing on the tube, Liezi, Zhang Heng, Plato, Descartes, Kant's concept of space. In the final section I will trace a line of the modern research on the 'space' concept. The second part focuses on the characteristics of the 'space' concept shown in the modernizing process, consisting of five sections: First, space compression refers to the human psychological experience of the changes of time and space in the modern context; the consumability of space illustrates that the space we are living in has become a specialized consumer context; the symbolization of 'space' refers to the different architectural space by means of symbols to convey their meanings; concerning the lack of space between the spirit of the material and space exchange market, it is pointed out that the isolation, depression, and sense of no direction influenza of space results in a tense relationship between human beings and the living space; the new characteristics of 'space' shown in the post-modern time are brought out, and at the same time the numerous crisis caused by the network space are presented. The third part is about the case analysis of space reflection in the modern context Heidegger, Marx and Zong Baihua being the representatives. Heidegger's part focuses on three concepts, i.e., "empty" means bearing, "in" On the survival of meaning and "Poetic home" of Heaven, Earth, God, the ideal of harmonious coexistence of people life realm; the Marxist part is mainly about the aesthetic space on the dimension of sociology, and the article will explain the communist society with a view to the history of social 'space' expositing the meaning of Marxist social space; in the section of Zong Baihua Mr. Zong's understanding of 'space' in the paintings rises to a level of interpretation of human survival realm. The three-part exposition from different views of aesthetic space takes care of the characteristics of the 'space' in the second part. The fourth part of this paper gives a summary and sublimation. In the beginning of this part it summarizes the aesthetic spatial concepts, and proceeds to put forward the concept of aesthetic space prototype respectively using Eden, utopia, and wilderness for analysis. The Eden Garden is an aesthetic space representing the harmony between human beings and the natural environment; Utopia is a blueprint for social development standing for a kind of hope, and it has always been the ideal living space human beings long for; wilderness, whereas, refers to the natural state the living space is supposed to achieve involving truth, innocence and harmony. The emphasis in this part lies in the sublimation bringing forward the ideal aesthetic space with an open attitude toward the future. This ideal space is also a kind of hope, being always an impulse for changing our living space.
