The thesis deals with analyzing the Fulbright Foundation's Hegemony.The Fulbright Program is the largest and most acclaimed international exchange program in the world. Designed to promote mutual understanding between the United States and other countries, the program was established in 1946 under legislation introduced by Senator J. William Fulbright, who believed that education was the best means"to expand the boundaries of human wisdom, empathy and perception…"Approximately 255,000"Fulbrighters"from over 140 countries have participated in the program since its inception over fifty years ago. If the program is nonpolitical, is it in the national interest? The author still regards the program as political. It has political influence. Thus, the essay begins with the definitions of ideology and culture, puts them into the U.S background and tries to find something hiding behind the international exchanges, just like the Fulbright Scholarship.The thesis is made up of five chapters. Chapter One is the introduction of the whole study, including thesis statement, rational, hypothesis of the study, significance of the study, the data and methodology, and the organization . Chapter Two is to bring in the definitions of ideology and culture from their origin, patterns and characteristics and their relations. Chapter Three is to further analyze on the ideology and culture in the relationship between U.S. and China and America foreign policy. Chapter Four is about an exploring study of ideology bias in Fulbright Scholarship from the implementation of the Fulbright Program, including the arrangement of curricula, the university and grantees'selection and the educational exchanges. At last, there is a presentation of the essential of the ideology of the Fulbright Program–cultural hegemony. Chapter Five is the conclusion, bringing about the suggestions on how to resist the cultural hegemony.
