Yuan Kai Bao 《Musical Sketches Of Taiwan》

After his several times visits to Taiwan, Mr. Bao Yuankai appreciated the Taiwanese custom, and then wrote the famous work, Musical Sketches of Taiwan. Musical Sketches of Taiwan was produced on the ground of Taiwan local music, and was developed in the format of orchestral suite, in order to depict the beautiful view and harmonious people lives in Taiwan. Moreover, Musical Sketches of Taiwan described the external environment and living status of eight Taiwan regions or tribes, such as Yu Shan, An Ping, Yi Lan, Heng Chun, Tai Ya, Lu Gang, Long Shan and Da Bang, and portrayed the mental world of Taiwanese people in a symphony suite.Because of its unique value in art, Musical Sketches of Taiwan has obtained favor from the audience, since its premiere in Taiwan. After that, through bilateral culture exchange across the Taiwan Strait, external interpretation and media reports, this great work also got high recommendation and attention by international Chinese people. Musical Sketches of Taiwan can be regarded as the communal belonging of people in both sides of Taiwan Strait.In this thesis, the background and process of the production of Musical Sketches of Taiwan were introduced, and the skills in mode, harmony, polyphony, structure and orchestration were comprehensively and deeply analyzed.
