This thesis mainly uses the investigation methods and discipline theories of sociolinguistics, cultural anthropology, takes the advantages of the Mongolians, Uygurs, Kazakhs in the ethnic mixed districts in Bortara Mongolia Autonomous Prefecture as the research subjects, uses questionnaires, observations and sound recording, etc methods to survey the language using circumstances in ethnic mixed district of Bo Prefecture. The subjects are from different ethnics, different genders and different ages. This thesis statistically analyzes language using circumstancesby individuals, by family members, in social communication circumstances and the degrees of language using. And based on these circumstances, this thesis tries to analyze the characteristics of the language use in the ethnic mixed districts of Bo Prefecture and the reasons of causing them.The characteristics of language use in the ethnic mixed districts of Bo Prefecture: the popularity of bilingual phenomenon, the clear gradation of bilingual-using-circumstance patterns, the direction ages in bilingual use, the disproportionateness of bilingual using ability, the variabilities of language users,languagecode transformation,thecomplexity ofbilingual phenomenon—the obviousness among illiterate bilingual people, non-illiterate bilingual people and bilingual-using-pattern transformations.Based on literature investigation, inquirement and observation, this thesis tries to explore the causes of language use in Bo Prefecture, namely, the mixture of different ethnics is the key factor to form the bilingual phenomenon, the equal ethnic culture relationships and language policies are important securities to develop bilinguals, the demands in all walks of life are the immediate cause to form bilinguals, bilingual teaching is the key way to develop bilinguals and the ethnic immigrations and language attitudes influence language use.
