A Study Of Literary Pragmatics On The Discourse Of Meng Zi

Guided by the latest pragmatics theories,the present thesis proposes an interpretation made of the discouse of Chinese classics Meng zi in the perpective of literary pragmatics.Through two aspects of discussion,macro and microscopic methods,we conclude that the pragmatic meaning,implication,and the topic sense of the discouse of MengZi,which is the base of another study that manages to reveal the general regularity of pragmatic subjects activies,that is,discourse understanding is reperated from man,s pragmatic inference and imagination is an effective way to transform this inference into discourse understanding.Compared with oral communication,literary communication has its unique features,which reflects three contexts , one is the author created when writing the work; another is the context composed by the reader while reading;the third is the languge used by the people in the work.These three contexts have their own cognitive spaces.In this sense,in order to get a successful communicaion,the reader and the author have to possess the knowledge of these three,including context,social culture,genre and the backgrand information.The author hopes that this study will provide new perspectives and helps for the translation , teaching and reading of MengZi.
