Task-based teaching emphasizes making the students achieve the goals of tasks, experience success with the help of teachers by the ways of participating, practicing, cooperating and experiencing, and set up the motivation and interest for learning. Due to the poor English foundation and boring teaching methods, most students in secondary vocational schools do not have the confidence to learn English well, and many of them lose interest in the subject completely. The situation makes it difficult to accomplish teaching aims. Text teaching is the most important part in secondary vocational school English course. The writer tries to practice task-based text teaching to arouse students' interest in English learning, to inspire students to develop new skills and to embrace new ideas in order to bring new perspective to every lesson.There are six chapters in this thesis, including analysis of the learning situation, the purposes of the practice, theories about task-based approach, task-based text teaching design and the contents of an experiment by the writer. The writer uses questionnaires, interviews and test comparison to discuss the effects of the experiment. In the conclusion, the author suggests that the task-based text teaching, which the writer has conducted in one class in Fuzhou Finance Secondary Vocational School, is good for the students. The students found fun and made good progress in the lessons taught in the new way. The writer also makes some suggestions for further research on task-based English teaching in secondary vocational school.
