A Primary Research On City's Form And Structure In Chaozhou During Ming And Qing Dynasties

Chaozhou is one of the famous historical culture cities in China. Its formation, development and evolution have something in common with the tradition of China city's develop, but most importantly, it has its own characteristic. So the thesis studies on the historical geography of Chaozhou city from four aspects: the environmental backgrounds, the development and the layout of the city in Ming-Qing period, the mechanism for the development of the city and the developing prospects.The first part researches on the environmental backgrounds and its development from natural and human aspects. In addition, the city's development in Song-Yuan period is another important foundation.There are two main bodies in the thesis, and the second part is one of them. In this part, it infers and expounds the scale of Chaozhou city in history according historical documents and archaeological materials. Then it restores and deduces the layout of the city in the Ming-Qing period.The third part is another main body in the thesis. It researchs the structure in the internal spare of the city. According to the different function, the city is separated for several part: the administrative area, the economical area, the residential area and the religion and cultural area, and so on, and then from this, analyzing the feature and cause of the evolvement of the city in Ming-Qing period.The fourth part analyses the mechanism and limiting factors of the development of Chaozhou city from the point of topography, politics, economic and transport conditions.The last part sums up the superior conditions of Chaozhou and puts forward some suggestions in the development of Chaozhou city.It is very important for the development of Chaozhou city to exploit and make good use of its historical resources, and the historical form of Chaozhou city is an important part of it, so we must pay more attention to it.
