The Study Of "Zhi Jian" On Syntax And Semantics

"Zhijian" is one of the common words in the modern Chinese language,but the previous research about it was very rare,and the explanations of it in some common dictionaries are also general.This paper lays particular emphasis on the study of its semantic and syntactic meanings in a comprehensive and systematic way.The main result of this paper as following:1.According to its semantic characteristics,we interpreted the word of"zhijian" as two meanings—"links two points" marked as "zhijian 1" and "temporary time" marked as "zhijian 2".According to the diachronic development of "zhijian",we found that "zhijian 2" derived from "zhijian 1".2.We pointed out the weakness of reference books,and analyzed the semantic meaning of "zhijianl"—which is being used after a word or phrase which can constitutes two points, and to restrict this word or phrase,and build up a certain contact among the things or characters within the points or boundary.3.Mainly,there are two kinds of semantic meanings of "X+ zhijian 1":Firstly,it expresses the scope.Secondly,it expresses two aspects of the relation.And the former can be expressed as:space scope,time scope,quantity scope,state scope.The semantic meaning of "X+ zhijianl" should be fixed according to the concrete text.4.The composition of "X" in the "X+ zhijianl" is complex but regular,and there are mainly five categories as below:(1) A+conjunction("he,yu"etc.)+A(2) A+ conjunction("he,yu,gen" etc.)/-+B(3) A+verb("zhi,dao"etc.)+B(4) AB(5) AThe form of "X" in "X+zhijian 2" is simple,mainly including verb,adjective,adverb, etc.. 5."Zhijian" can be used as a syntactic component alone under the certain condition,.6.We made comparison between "zhijian","zhongjian","zhinei","zhizhong" and "jian".
