With the rise of commercialization of photojournalism, the establishment of photojournalistic aesthetics and the boost of public aesthetic consciousness, the research of photojournalistic aesthetics has become one of the focuses in the field of photojournalism. At present, the research of photojournalistic aesthetics can be generally divided into three kinds: the relationship between photojournalism and aesthetics, the essence and characteristics of photojournalistic aesthetics and how to apply aesthetics into photojournalistic practice.The thesis, based on the view of photojournalistic aesthetics, has taken World Press Photo(WPP) for case study to analyze the communication of aesthetic information from the perspectives of features and forms of aesthetic information in communication, in order to discuss the relations between photojournalism and the communication of aesthetic information, world and human beings.The thesis, by using the method of case study, consists of four chapters. The first chapter summarizes previous research findings on photojournalistic aesthetics and introduces the paper's research purposes. The second chapter analyzes the characteristics of photojournalistic aesthetic information of WPP from four indices. The third chapter analyzes the forms of aesthetic information of WPP in communication. The fourth chapter is a summary based on the analysis of the previous two chapters and proposes further thoughts on the aesthetic consideration in Chinese photojournalism and on the relations between human beings and the world.
