Semantic Orientation is a complex language phenomenon, Based on lots of language materials,this thesis researched on the adverbial semantic orientation and its related questions , mainly including :1. summarized and analysized the former study in the field of semantic orientation on the origination and the definition of semantic orientation.2. analysized the criteria and categories of the adverbial semantic orientation. According to the methods such as the Sentence conversion ,the matching of semantic characteristics and the omitation of sentence ingredients,we can decide the adverbial semantic orientation and divide it into two categories :one pointing to the direct ingredients (headword) and the other one pointing to the indirect ingredients (other ingredients in or out of the sentence, such as : subject, object, and complement, etc.).3. summed up the law of adverbial semantic orientation. Adverbs, adjectives, verbs, nouns, numbers and varieties of the phrases can play as the adverbial in the sentence , furthermore,the different types of words in different sentences as adverbial may give rise to different semantic orientation issues. When adverbial elements express the way ,the extent, the time, the place and the number of the action occurring,the adverbial semantic will point to its direct ingredients; While adverbial elements express the nature of persons or things, or express numbers and states of persons or things, usually the adverbial semantic points to its indirect modified ingredients on syntastic.The exploring and analysizing on the law of semantic orientation is of practical significance, It is conducive to the understanding of everyday language and adapting to the current development needing ,which can better utilize the automated processing of the language and so on.
