Aunt Duohe is a new novel by Yan Geling- the well-known female writer. In the novel, she tells a life story of a 16-year-old girl named Takeuchi Duohe, who lived in China as a orphan after World War II. At the end of the war, Duohe was bought by the Zhangs as a birth tool, since then her life was tightly connected with the Zhangs. During the life of 40 years, there always exsisted some difference between Duohe and the Zhangs , which can't be ignored, and can also represent the difference between the Chinese and Japanese culture. This passage reveal the difference via the life of Duohe and the Zhangs, from many aspects of view of life and death, view of family morals, language and behaviors as well as attitudes toward life.In the aspect of view in life and death, death is Japanese preference. Japanese is fearless to death, it beyonds everything. Death Respect of japanese culture has relationship with japanese natural environment, secondly, it is relating to structure of japanese tradtional society.Nevertheless, japanese society is filled with a concept of misunderstanding between good and evil after the people die. This is also the reason why the Death Respect theory comes out and this eassy is a path to analyze the detail of the concept about Respect Eeath. For the concept of Reborn in Chinese culture, it represents theory about reality and pessimistic. Firstly, Confucianism and taoism both give a big infulence in Chinese mentality, Chinese people think "born" is more important than death to our human being. Meanwile, buddism theory also reflects the mind of Chinese people. This eassy is also telling a concept about Chinese mentality on "Reborn".In the aspect of family morals, blood relationship is important to Chinese. Chinese like use blood relationship to definate which family you belong to. Blood relationship is holy and not be exceeded. In China, family is made of spouse, son or doughter and brother who has blood relationship with the spouse, son or doughter. Blood relationship is connection between different family members. Secondly, manner is also a represetation of making a difference between senior member and ealier generation in the family. This eassy is analyzing the different situations between doughter in law and doughter herself in the same family. Such as the position of doughter in the family is higher than the doughter in law from the same family. Normally, the people has blood relationship from the same family are not close to the doughter in law who come from the other family. Blood relationship is the reason.Japanese is not same as Chinese in blood relationship. Loyal is what japanese want to represent. Family members including on the people who have blood relationship with them, also the people who have been living with them without blood relationship. They choose the people they think they are trustful. In japanese culture, blood relationship is not a only way to definate the concept about family. For those people who have a blood relationship with the family but they have left their own families or people have married with the people from other families, they will not belong to their original families any more.On the other hand, economy relationship is possible to make them become a family member although they do not have any blood relationship. Blood relationship is not important to japanese, so japanese use different manner with doughter in law and their family's doughter. Doughter in law will not longer being a family member of her original family since she married to her new family.Filial respect is also a key of distinction between Chinese family and japanese family. Filial respect is the most important behaviour to Chinese. Filial respect is a reflection of family love. Chinese filial respect is not equitable in the family, younger generation is always lower class in the family.Loyal is more important to japanese, because they don not have concept of filial respect in their mind. Blood relationship is not so important to japanese family so that japanese is not same as Chinese in filial respect theory. Loyal is a key to make japanese family behave or not. In japanese traditional culture, younger generation always take the responsibility to serve the higher class in the family. In the aspect of language and behaviors, Japanese love be quiet and they think keep quiet is a sort of virtue. Japan is a small island and have to make a stable political surrounding. In other words, peace is what they want. That is the way to make their country become a rich and safe place. On the other hand, traditional japanese culture requires japanese use heart to communicate with other people. Japanese think language has a sort of secret power, keep quiet is a path to find the secret.Chinese culture requires people response what you are doing and be careful to what you are talking.
