Research On The Application Of Chinese Traditional Visual Elements In Modern Book Design

The Chinese culture with its long history gave birth to the modern design art which attract to the world in China. This article tried to analyze the inherent relationship between the traditional culture and the modern book design. It can provide much nourishment and wisdom to the modern book design only through the hard study of The Chinese traditional culture. We must clarify the question that why and how the modern book design must take root in our national culture. This is a hot issue in these years.On the present situation of designs practice, we have questions on the traditional visual elements in understanding and grasping: 1.Most younger designers, who have little interest in the traditional culture, even defy it, adore the west culture.2.They have little point of view on the understanding and grasping to the connotation of the traditional culture.3. They abuse the traditional visual elements in the modern book design. So the reflection of Chinese culture is showing the imitating and copying cultural representation in shallow level. Want to play role in traditional culture more, we must know more about the features of the Chinese traditional culture know more about the aesthetic ideal of Chinese culture and do combine the connotation of Chinese culture and the theory of design.We try to understand the modern book design theory and get a conclusion. It is: the modern book design is a way to communicate, and a combination between visual-audition technology and visual art. We want to find the converging point between Chinese culture and modern book design ,in order to find a best expression of the modern book .Then we can feel and realize the Chinese culture charm from the aspect of visual-audition .We can combine Chinese esthetic ideal with modern book design ,and form a new design style which has Chinese characteristic.
