Both the verb overlap and separable words are two important phenomena in modern Chinese linguistics. In this paper, based on previous studies of these two areas, we have done further research and analysis. What the academia most concern about the research of separable words are: the nature of grammar, the types, the definition of the principle, the combination, the expansion and their law. About the verb overlap, the academia has studied systematically its scope, nature, grammatical meaning and syntactic function .We've found that on the one hand, research of the separable words overlapping forms is rarely seen in the current academic works, and the study of AAB-type has not yet been devoted. On the other hand, the academia has not an unified conclusion on the scope of verb overlap, its grammatical meaning and the nature of grammar . So, there is still lots of space for us to study the verb overlap from the perspective of separable words.According to the needs of dissertating, we explained the definition of the relevant theses under this prerequisite of minimizing disputes. It should be noted that: the existing research gives us the scope of verb overlap from the perspective of semantic features: [+Continued] or [+Repeated ] and [+ independent, + positive, - Formal ]; we agree with the opinion on the grammatical meaning of verb overlap:"The volume of movement",including the time volume and action volume. In terms of the time volume, it means a short time. In terms of the action volume, it means small action. We believe that the two-syllable "separable verbs" not only have AAB-type, but also have ABAB-type, such as anshen -ananshen , baguan- babaguan, yidong -yidongyidong, laojia - laojialaojia etc. At the same time, both the verb-object and verb- Complement double-syllable " separable verbs " have the overlapping of AAB-type and ABAB-type; The AAB-type is the main overlapping style of the verb-object double-syllable " separable verbs " while the ABAB-type is the main overlapping style of the verb- Complement double-syllable "separable verbs"; parts of that subject-predicate double-syllable "separable verbs" may have the overlapping of ABAB-type in some particular pragmatic environment. While discussing the differences between the AAB-type and the ABAB-type, we have an comparative analysis about the syntactic function, syntactic pattern and the original style characteristics of the internal structure of overlapping style. At the same time, we analyzed that"A"has the feature of verbs in"AB", and"B"has the feature of nouns in"AAB". So we explained that why the majority of "separable verbs " have the AAB-type , and we supposed daringly that the reason why parts of the verb-object " separable verbs " are ABAB-typed is because of the needs of having object.Owing to most two-syllable "separable verbs" overlapping as AAB-type, as well as to better understand and grasp the overlapping features of AAB-type, we made a further description and analysis. While their commonality is confirmed, the grammatical meaning, syntactic function and the pragmatic environmental characteristics of the AAB-type overlap are also further explained and discussed. We think that the AAB-type overlap can serve as a subject, predicate, object, attribute, and has its own characteristics in terms of the syntactic function, . It can not serve as adverbial and can not take object, but it can have adverbial modifiers ahead.Because both the verb overlap and the AAB-type of two-syllable" separable verbs " have a higher using in spoken environment, we believe that AAB-type overlap can reflect better in the level of pragmatics grammatical meaning, which is the semantic features of [-serious]. The Pragmatic environment of AAB-type is: on language style, spoken language; on the system of tense and voice, AAB-type can refer to the action which happened or in the future. When the action has happened, the AAB-type would be strictly limited .Some verbs which do not have the semantic conditions of the verb overlap can overlap is because of the involvement of the causitive verbs. They can mix the verbs with the semantic features of overlapping verbs. Both the modal verbs and the overlapping verbs can be found in a lot of sentences. We believe that on the one hand, parts of modal verbs can have a relaxing, casual effect on expression; On the other hand, the overlapping types have grammatical meaning of the [-serious] semantic features . What's more, we've found that several AAB-types can be in the same sentence. An AAB-type overlap can be a sentence.Although our study has a breakthrough in the results of former research on the study of the overlapping types of two-syllable "separable verbs" (AAB-type), some opinions will inevitably be imperfect in the paper and needs further discussion. We hope our opinions in this article can substantiate the ontology study of verb overlap, and provide theoretical guidance in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. We look forward to seeing more and better academic works.
