Study On Relationship Of Mental Health, Sensation Seeking And Serum MAO Activity Of College Students In Changchun

Objective:Conduct a test on personality characteristics, mental health, sensation seeking and serum MAO activity level of 900 college students.(1) To analyze the mental health degree, sensation seeking and serum MAO activity level of students with different background.(2) To find out the relationship between mental health and sensation seeking, mental health and serum MAO of the students.(3) To discuss the influencing factors of the mental health of the college students, it would provide a reliable theory basis for the mental health education.Method:Selecting a comprehensive tertiary institution in Changchun, using the overall stratified cluster sampling method. Imposing Eysenck personality questionnaire (EPQ), symptom-self-estimated table (SCL-90), undergraduate sensation seeking scale and serum MAO trial investigation on 900 college studentsResult:(1) The detection of personality characteristics, mental health degree, sensation seeking and serum MAO:â‘ The detection of personality characteristics:The Freshman students have the higher proportion in high score of the spiritual nature and nervousness than the Sophomore and Junior students; the Sophomore and Junior students have the higher proportion in high score of concealing than Freshman students; The science students is more introversive than the liberal arts students . The boys have the higher proportion in high score of concealing than the girls. The students from one-child family have the higher proportion in the high score of nervousness and more extroversive than non-one-child family. The students from family whose is below 500 Yuan have higher proportion in high score of nervousness than the one whose family per capita monthly income is up 500 Yuan. â‘¡The positive rate of each dimensionality of the mental health scale table: the ratio that students with mental health problem of the institute was 40 percent. The Freshman students have higher positive rate in all dimensionality expect the somatization of the mental health scale table. The arts students have high positive rate in depression,anxiety,Photic anxiety and other dimensionality than the science students. The boys have higher masculine in depression,anxiety,photic anxiety and other dimensionality of the mental health scale table than the girls. The students of non-one-child family have the significant higher positive rate in interpersonal sensitivity,depression,photic anxiety and other dimensionality than the students of the one-child family.â‘¢The sensation seeking test situation:The level of the sensation seeking of Freshman students is higher than the Sophomore and three. The level of male students is higher than the female.The level of the students of one-child family is higher than the students of the non-one-child family. There is no significant difference between students whose family per capita monthly income is below or up 500 Yuan.â‘£The detection of the serum MAO activity: the level of the serum MAO activity of Freshman students is higher than Sophomore and Junior students; the level of serum MAO activity has no difference between the arts and science students, the male and female students, the students of one-child family and non-one-child family. The level of the serum MAO activity of the students of family per capita monthly income below 500 Yuan is higher those not below.(2) The intension of the relationship between the mental health degree and sensation seeking scores is varied in different background college students.(3) The intension of the relationship between the mental health degree and the level of the serum MAO activity is varied in different background college students.Conclusion:(1)â‘ The background such as Grades, majors, sex, family conditions has much influence on mental health of College students.â‘¡College student with different Grades ,majors, sex, from one-child family or non-one-child family have varied sensation seeking. There is no significant difference in sensation seeking between students whose family per capita monthly income is below and up 500 Yuan.â‘¢Different Grades and family conditions college students own different level of serum MAO activity.(2) Sensation seeking scores may forecast the mental health degree of college students with different background well.(3) The diversity of mental heath in different major and home conditions college students may be related to the serum MAO activity.
