In 2001,the Standard of English Curriculum promulgated in 2001 by the Ministry of Education set a higher requirement for high school students.The affective factors were regarded as important factors influencing students' learning and development and affective teaching was defined as one of the teaching aims.The new requirement has imposed a new challenge on Chinese high school teachers.For a long time past,language teachers only attached importance to the development of the students' intelligence and their cognitive ability,neglecting the importance of affect in language learning and the students' affective development.At present,most of the Chinese scholars in this field mainly focus their thoughts on the establishment of a relaxing,harmonious and democratic class without exploring how to design effective class activities to involve students in active learning and how to cultivate students' affect for learning.Based on the previous researches,this paper attempts to discuss the implementation of task-based language teaching in senior high school and the cultivation of students' affect so as to guide the students towards successful learning through cognizing,experiencing, practicing and cooperation,to enforce students' positive emotion and eliminate their negative ones and to improve their pragmatic language ability.The author makes the study through theoretical review,experimental teaching and questionnaire design.The result of the experiment,the comparative analyses of the results of the pre-test and post-test and the feedback from the students in the experimental class based on the questionnaire show that task-based teaching approach,is an advanced and efficient one which puts the students in the first place and which reflects the language value. It also proves that students can benefit from the integration of affective teaching and task-based language teaching.In conclusion,the author argues that task-based teaching is effective in cultivating learners' positive affect towards English learning.The positive affect can arouse students' interest in learning,lower their language anxieties,tap the potential of their language abilities,and help them get better results in learning.
