After the 1980s, the Chinese painting has been developing towards diversification. While being delighted for and proud of the development and achievement of the contemporary Chinese painting, we still have two difficult problems to concern with, which we have to face in the development of the Chinese painting: one is the conflict between the tradition and innovation of the Chinese painting, the other is the infection coming from the western contemporary art conception. For the contemporary Chinese painting, what course to follow,facing this complexion.By combining the creating experiences during the study course for the degree of the Arts Master, The author analyzes the opportunities and challenges which the traditional Chinese painting is facing with, from the angle of the culture background, the culture connotation and the aesthetic principle of the Chinese painting, and brings forward the point of view that we can not experiences the organic affiliation between the special language of the traditional painting and the state of human civilization and promote the development of the Chinese painting until we realizes the temperament of the Chinese painting, The article also gives an in-depth analysis on the three characteristics (elegant, connotative, intensive) reflected by the Chinese painting.
