As the economic system reformation and market economy development, the communication between countries in many fields including culture became more and more since the 1980s. Modern western thought trends in culture, art and literature flowed into China. Among them, Modernism and Postmodernist are having intense characteristics of time and distinct identities. At that time, China's Modern Literature was changing. Influenced by the western modernism, China's Avant-garde literature came into being directly, and turned into an extraordinary school in the new stage of literature. Chinese avant-garde literature originated in the 1980s. The earliest originator was Ma Yuan, then Yu Hua, Mo Yan, Su Tong, Sun Ganlu and so on. The emerging of avant-garde literature indicates the changing of Chinese literature in that new stage. It is the new emerging force, and its mode of creating, subject matter, form and content are different with the traditional mode for influencing by the foreign literature.This paper analyzing Yu's works in order to point out his individual features as an avant-garde literature writer and illustrate the themes of his works are dredging up humanity. It contains four parts. Part one takes five novels as examples for instance Go on a long journey at the age of eighteen, Death narrating, A mistake by the river, 1986, Kind of reality. It is easy to get that Yu has fondness for narrating blood and violent which adequately indicates Yu was thinking about humanity. Part two points out that Yu focuses on dredging up humanity and presenting human's shorting points. It takes Yu's works including Accidents will happen, Classical love, The moon with north winding, For Yang Liu, Happening in Apr.3rd. Through analyzing the relationship between people and people, people and society, people and the world, and people and nature, his novels show the drawbacks and abuses which are not noticed by people. Part three selects Living which was written after 1990s, analyzing the violent of the world and the tragedy of humanity. The paper charged Fu Gui's experience to the tragedy doom of Fu Gui and his family causing by the world. The word did not take pity on people in miserable surrounding and it is cold and unmerciful. Part four dissertates A Story about Xu Sanguan, the Blood-Seller. It divides blood selling into life instinct and mercy of human. Whatever, these are the solutions of fighting for pressure from outside of human self. Through the four parts, the paper points out that suffering, bloody and violent description are surface. Fundamentally, Yu wants to indicate the villainy and mercy of human, and the cruelty of the world.
