Shuo Wen Jie Zi was one of Xu Shen' s major works, originally for the study of Confucian classic. Xu Shen was not only an outstanding character scholar, but also a well-known Confucian classics scholar.Qin and Han Dynasties, the motivation that interpretting the classical meaning through the interpretation of characters was the same. First, character was the conflicts'focus of the study on Confucian classic between classical writing and current calligraphy. Xu Shen paid full attention to the characters and used the theory of Liushu to explore the original meaning of the charaters. On the basis of this, he integrated the study of Confucian classic in classical writing and in current calligraphy; then carried forward the Five Confucian Classics.Through analyzing the situation that Shuo Wen Jie Zi quoted The Book of Songs, we can see that the vast majority of the text of The Book of Songs is the same in the Han Dynasty. The difference between them is that many Tongjia characters and ancient characters were used in Mao, on the contrary, The Book of Songs of Lu, Qi and Han usually used the original characters and modern words at that time. What's more , the main difference between The Book of Songs of Lu, Qi, Han and Mao is not the text but the commentary on it. The Book of Songs quoted by Shuo Wen Jie Zi mainly refered to Mao and Mao Zhuan. It also absorded something of The Book of Songs of Lu, Qi and Han. So Shuo Wen Jie Zi made great contributions to the integration of The Book of Songs of the four versions of Lu, Qi, Han and mao. Xu Shen'study on The Book of Songs mainly refered to Mao. Xu Shen used the theory of Liushu to explore the original meaning of the characters to prove that Mao in classical writing was close to original meaning of The Book of Songs in the commentary. He has laid a solid character foundation for Mao, And he improved the Mao's status in the study of the Confucian classics.This paper involves some respects of the following:Introduction sums up overview of the study on Shuo Wen Jie Zi quoting The Book of Songs since Qing Dynasty, analysed questions during the research including the causes to them, points out the value of the study on Shuo Wen Jie Zi quoting The Book of Songs.Chapter I discusses the relationship between Shuo Wen Jie Zi and the development of the study on The Book of Songs in Han Dynasty, points out the impact of Scholium on the study of The Book of Songs in Han Dynasty, sums up differences and disputes of the study of the Confucian classic between classical writing and current calligraphy, Analyzes the trend of integration of the study on The Book of Songs in the Han Dynasty and the process of the rise of Mao.Chapter II Studies several situations in detail about Shuo Wen Jie Zi quoting The Book of Songs: Shuo Wen Jie Zi mainly quoted from Mao in text and refered to Maozhuan in the interpretion. At the same time, Xu Shen had also absorded something of The Book of Songs of Lu, Qi and Han. This chapter also discusses some questions about Shuo Wen Jie Zi quoting The Book of Songs, points out the similarities and differences of the four texts of The Book of Songs of Lu, Qi, han and Mao and the main difference of The Book of Songs in classical writing and in current calligraphy. On the basis of the study about Shuo Wen Jie Zi, this chapter explores the origins of Xu Shen'academic.There are three attachments in the end: One is the statistical number about Shuo Wen Jie Zi quoting The Book of Songs . One is the original text what Shuo Wen Jie Zi quoted and brief analysis . Another is distribution list about Shuo Wen Jie Zi quoting The Book of Songs .
