The Study On Wang Yunwu-the Modern Publisher

As a publisher in the history of Chinese modern publication and Commerical Press,Wang Yunwu has worked in the Commercial Press for 40 years,including 25 years in the mainland Commercial Press,his brilliant achievements during this time has made tremendous contribution to China's cultural publication.As a result of political and the ideology aspect reason,Wang Yunwu has been neglected intentionally or unmeantly for a long time.In the academic circles,there are no thorough and systematic studies on Wang Yunwu's publication activities and his management philosophy,which is quite disproportional with his great impacts on the Chinese publication history and the cultural history.This article analyses Wang Yunwu's great contributions to China's cultural publication from five aspects on the basis the generalized analysis of the related studies on Wang Yunwu.With a hope to cause more attention on the studies about Wang Yunwu and provide a kind of model for the modern Chinese publishing industry.Firstly,Wang Yunwu took charge in the Commercial Press at the basis of achievements made by the previous,Zhang Yuanji.And he published new style series and disseminated the new culture. Secondly,Wang Yunwu established the Eastern Library for the purpose of serve for the social education by taking advantage of the library movement.Thirdly,Wang Yunwu remodeled the Commercial Press as an modern publising house through his exploration on the scientific management methods.Fourthly,how Wang Yunwu engaged himself in the revival of the Commercial Press under two national disasters.Fifthly,Wang Yunwu's common publishing thoughts from his self-taught experiences.As a publisher who attached great importance on education,knew a lot about publication and economic- minded.Wang Yunwu was good at management,he had courage and insight and he is quite boldness,he made great achievements on conserving and promoting Chinese traditional culture and popularizing the modern science knowledge.Wang Yunwu is absolutely an hero for the Commercial Press.This article conducts a deep and systematic analyses about Wang Yunwu's publication management philosophy and the publication activity by the methods such as analysis synthesis,induction deduction,literature analysis,examples, contrasts,quotes the example etc.
