Civil officials are the key part of the ruling class, as well as the important tool for the Emperor keeping the political power. The dress, which not only has the basic function of keeping out the cold and covering body, but also shows strong hierarchy and etiquette, is the materialized state of ethical politics. Therefore, we can bring to light bureaucratic system of one dynasty from one aspect through the explanation of concrete form of civil official dress and the distinction of different officials wearing various dresses in different occasions.The dress of the Qing Dynasty keeps traditional features of the Manchus dress, as well as is integrated with the quality the Han traditional dress. The thesis chooses the civil official dress of the Qing Dynasty as the research object, hoping to enrich the content of the Qing Dynasty dress, with the intention to project the special status of the Qing Dynasty dress in the history of dress research of ancient China.The thesis falls into four parts. The introduction mainly presents the reason of choosing this subject, gives a brief account of related research trends, together with research method and thought, meanwhile confines the thesis dynastic history. The first chapter expounds the reason of the Qing Dynasty developments and changes from the following four aspects : the evolution of official dress system throughout the whole dynasty before the Qing Dynasty, the foundation of the dress system of the Manchus ancestors, political needs , the influence of the economic factors . The second chapter discusses the vicissitude of civil official dress system . The thesis will show civil official's development and change through the dress's formation during the different periods among Tian Cong,Tian Ming,Chong De,Shun Zhi,Kang Xi,Yong Zheng,Qian Long. The third chapter reveals the feature of the Qing Dynasty civil official dress from the two aspects: the vivid regionalism and the main trend based on nationality integration.
