Research And Annotation Of Wudai Minghua Buyi

Wudai Minghua Buyi(A Complementary to Renown Painters of Five Dynasties) is a fundamental treatise for researches on painting history of Five Dynasties.The author of the book is regarded as Liu Daochun.The best edition is a Shujipu('book-booth') edition published by Chen Daoren in around 1190-1194A.D.Liu authored another book, Shengchao Minghua Ping(Evaluations of Sung Dynasty Painters of Renown).Though there is research on Shengchao Minghua Ping,it seems Wudai Minghua Buyi has not attracted enough attention from the scholars.Based on the Chen Daoren edition,this paper tries to annotate the text by referring to editions like the reprinted Song edition of Ming Dynasty,the Jiguge traced Song edition,the Wangshi Huayuan edition,the Lao Quan edition of Qing Dynasty,and literature as Tuhua Jianwen Zhi,Xuanhe Huapu,etc.The whole paper is divided into two parts,with Partâ… for annotated text and Partâ…¡for studies on editions,writing and publishing years,authorship and styles of both books by Liu Daochun.
