Possible Interpretation

Tea Drinking is so important a event not only in China's traditional culture, but also as a classic subject of art history. Tea Drinking and the service about it are much more popular than before in the Song Dynasty, and the literati of the Song Dynasty is a special tea-related group in their day-to-day life. In this paper, the texts of "Tea Drinking in Literati" of the Song Dynasty, which used to be a traditional cultural phenomena, will be interpretated with the Western semiotic concepts of "text" and its analytical methods. It will be divided into four part to interpretate: the tea book, the tea poetry, the tea service and the economic of tea.This dissertation aims to explore a new way of study of the traditional cultural event with modern theory, and sets a open conclusion: as an extension of the concept of traditional culture, the "Tea Drinking in Literati" always has its different meaning in different way of interpretation, and this maybe the significance of interpretation.
