With substantial progress in agricultural production technology and more social activities in the Han Dynasty, drinking behavior becomes more and more popular in daily life. From royalties and nobles, senior officials, lower officials, and even ordinary citizens, everyone drinks, however, drinking phenomenon among the Han officials and soldiers, female, minorities and other special groups around, is also a special research subject worthy of attention.Affected by policies and laws of nighttime activities for common people which is restricted by the Han officials, drinking mostly focuses on daytime, and people who drink during night are bigwigs. From historical record daily alcohol consumption in the Han dynasty might be between twenty kilograms and two kilograms.In the Han dynasty, it is common using wine for sacrifice and funeral. It is also prevailing that individuals are granted to alcohols to show respect by officials. Alcohol drinking becomes epidemic on various ceremonies and occasions. People drunk to celebrate the festival of the customs are gradually formed in the Han Dynasty. Alcohol is particularly prominent as medical functions in the Han Dynasty. People drink everyday to dispelled coldness and keep healthy. In social histories of Han prescription using wine to cure disease is quite common. Application means of alcohol used as medicine in the Han Dynasty diversifies, which cover widely of disease treatment.Drinking culture in the Han Dynasty is affected by social material production basis, the official alcohol policy and social trends, the public drinking motion, etc. It varies in different periods of the Han Dynasty. One of the most obvious differences is that social material production boom causes drinking trend becomes more and more serious between beginning of Xihan Dynasty and HanWuDi Dynasty. The second difference is in the end of Dong Han, because of the flashy and extravagant social trend, and the people's social contact trend, it caused drinking trend in the end of Dong Han Dynatsy becomes more and more serious.
