The Study On The Literature Of Yanzi's Spring And Autumn Annals

Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals is one of ancient classics with great values of history and literature, which records the thoughts and actions of Yanying, a famous prime ministers of Qi in late Spring and Autun Period. Because of many reasons, Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals was always looked on as a pseudograph, and its value in Chinese literary history was ignored in a long time. However, the discovery of bamboo-slip edition of Yanzi Annal in a tomb of Han Dyansty in Yinque moutain of Shandong Province in 1972 made this masterpiece get out of morass and entered into royal way. By analysis of narrative art, characterization art and language art, this paper hackles the literary value of Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals from the perspective of art and literature. It's composed of the following five parts:The exordium is a discussion on the melting of literature and history in the historical records of pre-Qin dynasty. This part primarily discusses the existence and embodiment of literature elements in the historical records of pre-Qin dynasty, which is prepared for the following discussion of literariness of Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals.The first chapter mainly expounds narrative art of Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals. Different from other historical records of pre-Qin dynasty, Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals which emphasizes the importance of narration contains many initiatives such as special style of biography with characteristics, one story in single works, determining the sequence according to the type, novelized narrative method and so on. All of these points are discussed in the chapter.Characterization art is discussed in chapter two. Totally, more than ninety figures are characterized in Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals, but it mainly focuses on Yanzi. Through analyzing the image of Yanzi and other personalities, this chapter further explores the unique artistic pursuit in personage's image-building.Chapter three describes language art of Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals. Plain ,clear,expressive and humorous language style run through the masterpiece, and the prose and verse forms appear alternatively. Diversified syntactic organization and figure of speech are frequently used in Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals as well. All of these contribute greatly to the language literariness of Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals.Influence of literary art of Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals on later literary is illustrated in final chapter, which is discussed from three aspects including narrative art, characterization art and language art, by closely connected with the body of the thesis.
