Since The People's Republic of China was founded,with the guidance of the government,literary and art creation has entered a period of high-yield.At the same time, various of displays organized by the central government and local governments aim at prospering the amateur life of the masses and developing the culture of China become the most influential social arts activities.'The First National Music Week' in 1956 under such a circumstance which sponsored by Ministry of Culture of the PRC and the Chinese Musicians Association,is the large-scale professional music performance with the purpose of reviewing creation, performances and doing research on folk music,and its pattern mainly show the newly creation as well as folk music.The display assembles 4500 delegates from 23 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities on behalf of 18 nations and 37 units directly participating or watching the displays,involving so many specialties,so many fields and so many players which reach an unprecedented scale.In other words,it is the first large-scale display of professional music in the history.The essay is mainly doing research on the topic 'The First National Music Week' which is deeply influenced by state ideology;serve to the national literature and arts policy.Its aim at classifying the whole course of performance historically and objectively by using historical research methods through collection and analysis of archival materials and combining with specific era social,political,and cultural background.The professional performance is organized by government which are the professional actors and folk artists' as the main body.The further step is to explore the far-reaching impact of performance on music development,art scene,contemporary music,the masses cultural life and so on,and give the historical significance and cultural values of music week.
