In the 1950 s,the Chinese government held a series of large-scale cultural performances in order to enhance the self-esteem of the Chinese nation and promote the development of traditional culture. The "Touring Troupe of Chinese Folk and Classical Music",which was established on October 27,1954,was an important part of it.The troupe gave 104 performance in three months and toured more than ten cities across the country. For more than 60 years, this temporary art troupe, which had had a profound influence throughout the country, has almost disappeared in the eyes of contemporary people,in which, some outstanding artists are still relished. This article takes the touring troupe as a research object, and applies historical ethnomusicology, music sociology, music bibliography, anthropology and other research methods to do analysis. In the paper,I would like to make a historical review of its touring troupe process, and to provide real and three-dimensional basis for this historical event that represents one of the glorious achievements of contemporary Chinese music, which integrating folk and classical music displays, central and local cultural exchanges, and the improvement of the production and performance methods of various ethnic instruments all together. From the perspective of the overall development of Chinese culture and art in the 20 th century,to examine, observe and analyze its historical and cultural background, status, and significance.Use the "mirror" of history to observe the organization of today's music and art activities and the measures for the protection of intangible cultural heritage, and to learn from history to promote the development of culture and art in the new era.
