On Music Class In Temple In JingLe County Northwest Of ShanXi

The temples music bands of Jingle county in northwest of Shanxi, are some music groups living there, by blessing in temples and helding chaoDu ceremony for the deceased at home regularly or irregularly. They can meet the needs of different people. In the ways of conjuring, singing, playing and knocking, The temple music gives a including a comprehensive expression of Buddhism, Confucianism ,Taoist gods and folk customs ,so such a music band is a art group with comprehensive faith.Under the guidance of the folk music theory, I did a lot of practical investigation,and try to elaborate the relationship between the temple music in folk ceremony and culture, as well as the social meaning that the bands have in folk ceremony,so as to get a good understanding on the essence of music.The previous study of Buddhist music mainly focus on the forms of the music, While the relationship of dependency between the Buddhist music and folk ceremony as well as the functional and social functions that the Buddhist music has in customs are seldom discussed. In this paper, according to the concept of folk music, I choose a northwest Shanxi Buddhist temples music band as the entry point, do a comprehensive study to the Buddhist music in the context of the whole cultural, and try to get a comprehensive and profound understanding on the status of the Buddhist music in the folk.This paper is divided into eight parts, including introduction, six chapters of the body, and the conclusion, the key elements as the follows: The introduction includes the present research of the topic as well as the purpose and significance of this topic.Partâ… : A resume of the temple music band.Discussing in the following aspects: the survival background of the bands, historical origins, band artists, music heritage, artists and other activities.Partâ…¡: Investigating the existence and development of the bands according to their economic conditions.Partâ…¢: According to the national music theory, when studying music we should not only focus on music itself, but should pay more attation to human and their living environment. In this part , I choose three typical ceremony in the folk: the funeral, a temple light and praying, to study the social significance that the temple music has in the folk ceremonies.Partâ…£: This part is a research mainly focus on the music bands,including the research of the musical instruments, band, music and other aspects.Partâ…¤: Jingle temples music and Wutaishan music temples belong to the north of the Han Buddhism, both are not far apart . By comparing their musical instruments'organization, the Qupai and the Gongdiao , we can find its origins, history and evolution of the situation.Partâ…¥: Some thoughts on the change and development about the ecological environmentof the Jingle temples music, after practical investigation.Conclusion: By analyzing the individual case that temple music exist in Jingle, northwest Shanxi ,this paper investigates its history, cultural background, form of music, and explores its specific social functions in the folk ceremony of the region, as well as its relationships with other folk musics .
