The lineage is a kind of social cummunity existing in the Cathay local society,and developed in the periods of Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty.The hierachical Pu-die system with the aristocrat status as its character changed to the Pu-die system with the character of equality between the common,ever since the Chinese lineage organization came in being with constructing the ansectral temple,writing the lineage,establishing the clan criterion as its main content.The Chinese lineage organization effected unestimable functions in solidifying the foundation of Feudalism reigning,maintaining the Feudalism ideology,reinforcing the construction of the supersnucture of Fudalism,and got the appreciation of the reigning class. Jiangxi province situated on the south bank of the middle and lower reachers of Changjiang River,and with mountains located on its three side.There is more mountainous region than plain,and the soil is barren and the people is poor.And its folkway is tricky and feirce.There are too many counties which are "difficult","clashing","exhausting","'troublesome', "remote".and also the Jiangxi people have the tendancy of litigiosity,its hard administration is well known.And also Jiangxi is one of the areas with developed lineage organization,and had its own character,the lineage force got rapid development under the appreciation and support of the country and gradually turned to the opposite position of the government,and so the Jiangxi lineages were punished and renovated in the period of Qianlong Emperor.It mainly implemented the Cizheng system and the movement of ancestral temple demolishing.The period of Qianlong is also one period we should pay attention:it is the summit of Kang-Qian flourishing period,and also is the beginning for the Qing dynasty to decline,so the social problems were intermingled.This thesis tried to account for the origination and development of the Jiangxi lineages wholly and systematically,to explain how the lineage force turned from compatible with the government to the opposite of the government,and to mainly discuss the renovation for the Jiangxi lineages in the Qianlong period,without ingnoring the local peculiarities of the lineages,while the thesis also regarded the relations of the lineages with the historical background(such as the problems of population,official management,and lawsuit.ect),and deeply analysised the reason,the policy and the result of the renovation for the Jiangxi lineages in the Qianlonglong period.
