The Study Of Wen Hui Of Lineage During The Period Of Qing Dynasty In Jiangxi Province

Wenhui is a kind of social organization that some scholars who have a common goal in the same camp talk about art at the fixed time.During Qing dynasty,the clan in Jiangxi Province was very developed,which was closely related with the Wenhui belonging to the clan.According to the main function,we can divide the Wenhui belonging to the clan of Jiangxi into three types--the type of society of scholars,the type of mutual economic aid and the type of the imperial examinations.The basic forms of the fund of Wenhui were beneficent farmland and beneficent money,which were mainly from the donation of the members of the clan,the apportion among the members of the clan,the profit of the fund of Wenhui and the legacy production of the lineage.The fund of Wenhui was used to hold the activity of Wenhui,subsidize,award,make profit and so on.The subsidization and award to the members of the clan were the main functions of the fund of Wenhui,and the profit of the fund could keep Wenhui operating normally and permanently.After the middle of Qing dynasty,there were a large amount of Wenhui appearing in Jiangxi Province and with the intervention of the gentry,Wenhui tend to actively support the local public welfare,present taxes,take part in the local disputes arbitration,donate the clan hall and attend the worship ceremony of the lineage,which gave rise to the stable local social order.Wenhui performed the functions of mutual economic aid,education,the local disputes arbitration,entertainment and so on.With time going on,Wenhui belonging to the clan during Qing dynasty in Jiangxi Province had been transformed into the local gentry organization,relating closely to the politics and the economy,changing with the social transformation during later period of Qing dynasty.
