Johann Friedrich Franz Burgmüller (1806-1874) was an excellent pianist and an accomplished composer of Romantic Period. He was born in Regensburg, Germany, and settled in Paris, France around 1834. His greatest accomplishments as a composer for piano were the collections of etudes for children. Burgmüller Op.100, whose original name was 25 Easy and Progressive Studies for Piano Op.100, was lately translated as 25 Etudes Op.100 or 25 Progressive Etudes. It became one of the sought-after works for learners and was still frequently used today. In this paper Burgmüller 25 Etudes Op.100 was analyzed detailly.It had been found that the style of Burgmüller's works was affected by Salon Music of Paris after viewing some foreign works because of being short of introduction about Burgmüller's biography in Chinese. Therefore, this paper began by providing the description of writing background and then shew the development history, expressing method, types, and style of Salon Music and other important pianists in Romantic Period. Secondly, it was ready for the following analysis that his biography and the style of his works were presented in the next section. Thirdly, a lot of technologies, which include musical expression, tonality, musical form, tempo, style, changing dynamics, and exercising method of fingers, of the each etude, had been analyzed detailly in order to help the student to enhance the musical expression and ability of playing piano. These etudes incorporated both technical exercising and exquisite tune. Additionally, many typical technologies such as musical scale, chromatic scale, arpeggio, chord, broken chord, double pitches, ornament, long distance skip, left-hand-across-right-hand playing method, changing-fingers playing method under homophony, etc, had been analysed in the next section. Finally, the influence of each etude had been introduced briefly in playing Burgmüller 25 Etudes Op.100.In conclusion, it was helpful to comprehend more exactly and comprehensively this work to analyze the 25 Etudes Op.100 in different perspectives. One-by-one lively and vivid moods were demonstrated in mind and brought music to us.
