The Discussion Of Legendary Narration In Sutong's Novels

There is legendary narrative tradition since tang dynasty in China, the novels of song-yuan,ming and qing dynasties have inherited creation method and narrative pattern. Legend not only influences Chinese ancient novels, but also influences Chinese modern literary novels. Many writers, who are interested in legendary narrative pattern, has taken over, used and innovated it. Su Tong is one of these writers. In this paper, I will study the legendary narrative tradition how showing in different narrative factors of Su Tong's novels .Su Tong loves narrating, he is very interested in legend, the stories in his works are full of legend. In these legendary stories, some are full of legend themselves, some are the the usual story, but writer's elaborately weaving make them have unusual meaning. Su Tong is good at narrating. From his unique narrative angle and narrative language, there is the same legendary meaning in his different stories.In his works, not only the stories are full of legendary meaning, but also the characters are full of legendary meaning,there are two types in his novels—emperor legend and civilian legend. The works of My monarch Life and Wu Zetian show the legendary life of Chinese ancient emperor. In Sutong's work ,the civilians also have the legendary factor. The life of men and wowen ,even of teenagers is full of legendary factors. Juvenile are innocent and romantic in our life, however, in Su Tong's works, juvenile are monstrous, loneliness, indifference, violence,bloody. The using of negative words make amazing effect. In "Red Pink" series, the relationship of women, there are full of hatred and fighting between mother-daughter, sisters, wives, colleagues.In Su Tong's works,the space is also very special. The time in his works is vague. In Su Tong's works, humanity is never change, only the time is changing. In Su Tong's work, time is just as the role of "historical play" scene. People has human nature in different time scene. There are shrinking space, floating space and alternative space in his works. These special space form special atmosphere. Even the usual story which hang over mystery atmosphere can show legendary artistic effect, the unusual story become more splendour.From wide view, through studying the story, characters, space of Su Tong's works, we can feel the legendary meaning of his novels. Doubtlessly, Su Tong is an excellent writer in Chinese modern novelist who write the legendary narration. I expect Su Tong can continue and go further along the way of legendary narration.
