Curriculum Design For Business English Major

Business English is an edged cross-discipline for application. With the guidance of linguistics and applied linguistics theories, it has a wide range of applications in the field of business and trade. As a branch of English for Specific Purpose, Business English focuses teaching on English related business, rather than the business discipline knowledge itself. This article starts with the relevant theories about Business English discipline and curriculum design, and then analyzes the current situation of Business English Education in China and abroad. It provides that in the process of cultivating talents of Business English, curriculum design is considered as means while Business English competence is the goal. Therefore, the study on the curriculum design for Business English Major should be aimed at competence the learners will possess after education. However,societal needs analysis is helpful to define the competence. Curriculum design is linked with competence, and then business English education system can be constructed.From the angle of curriculum design, this article provides a theoretical framework for constructing Business English education system. The author hopes more and more excellent talents can graduate after Business English Education in China in order to fulfill the requirement from society and improve its development.
