Research On Ancient Japanese Seal

Japanese paleography mainly refers to the variety of official documents, household registration, account book and files in Nara and Heian Era.quite a few of remained calligraphy in Chinese paleography belong to those format nowadays , as well as usage of the seal. Through the ambassadors of the Sui and Tang Dynasty , Student who visit Japan and the civilian person of these two dynasties, a great deal of Chinese classics, outstanding calligraphic works and molten technology were also spread to Japan, At that time, the mainstream of Japanese society accepted positively culture of the Sui and Tang dynasties of China. Under the influence of Sui and Tang Dynasties, Chinese culture and use of seals has gradually spread in Japan, when seals were not known by local people.In this paper, we analyzed the origins of the Japanese seal, through the evolution of the seals, the execution of seals' materials, and the usage of seals, and even the effect of ancient Japanese seals to modern Japanese and Chinese seal.
