Due to the popularity of English language and the huge demand for the language training service, a prosperous English language training industry has emerged world widely. With its emergence in the 1970's, the language training business has undergone more stages and now booms into a business of considerable scale. And compared to the English training market maturity and standardization of the major cities, the English training market of small and medium-sized cities is still in the development stage, and has great potential for development. However, the training institutions have great varies, and most of them are lack of competitive strategies, so there is some confusion in this market conditions. In such a competitive environment, how to choose a suitable competitive strategies and specific strategies is the facing issue to the oriental English training school, which is at small and medium-sized cities. All the above viewpoints have contributed to my suggestions to the oriental English training school of "differentiation" competitive strategy, I have absorbed competitive strategy theories and analyzed the competitive situation and structure of the training market, before proposing the brand differentiation, personnel differentiation and training in differentiation.Though demand is greater than that for other industries, language training has never obtained consistent theoretic research in its brief history. I have encountered in the course of research difficulties never imagined which resulted mainly from a shortage of reference materials. The practice in the training and the reflection on theories have led me to the experimental research on competitive strategy theories applied in the language training business, so my paper not only has a certain degree of reference to the equal status in the primary and secondary training institutions, but also is more practical than mere theories.
