The Star System and Star Study have long become an academic issue with heated public discussion in the field of film studies.Apart from Hollywood,Korea's achievement in star creation also draws worldwide attention.Due to cultural originality, Korean stars tend to be more received among Chinese and Japanese audiences in a cultural sense.As a dominant player in the on-going Korean Trend,SM Company has contracted with more than half of the most well-known and successful Korean stars.With the upgrading of China's entertainment industry and the enhancement of Chinese audiences' esthetic tastes,Korean Trend is now no longer as overwhelming as it was before; however,Korean Trend still remains competitive by exerting great influence.Various entertainment companies are still copying from Korean mode.Currently,in-depth analysis on SM Company's operation has not yet been made available in both the commercial market and the academic circle;however,its success undoubtedly deserves the effort,particularly its successful strategy in star creation by combining overseas experience with domestic innovation.The paper intends to call for a renewal and reviewing of China's star creation strategy via deep analysis on SM Company's star creation strategy.
