Wu Ze-tian takes control of power when she becomes queen during the Yong Hui Year of Gao Zong Emperor till she forced to transfer power to Zong Zong Emperor in the Zhang Jian-zhi coup.Her rule lasts for about half a century.During her administration,she issues series policies and measures to the country,succeeding Zhen-Guan-Zhi-Zhi's development power and laid solid foundation for the coming of Kai-Yuan-Sheng-Shi.However,Wu Ze-tian,the empress,whose rule overthrows the traditional Chinese ideas,facing enormous challenges both from thoughts and culture.To whitewash her rule and obtain common people' idealistic and psychological obedience to her new government,she reforms the etiquette-music system,advocates the scholars to interpret the connotation with their works. All those reforms and advocates whitewash her rule,on the other side,promotes the development of literature.This thesis follows the above thread and analyses from three aspects.Chapter One:Mainly discuss the relationship between etiquette-music reform and its distinctive background in Wu-Zhou Dynasty or Reign.The tradition or the society accepts the patriarchal ruling,which leads to the ideal conflicts;Wu Ze-tian tries to use high-pressure policy to suppress,and count people's resistance but the iron-and-blood ruling incurs aversion from the people,of which leading people to disfavors the regime;thus,the empress reforms the etiquette-music system to gain and extend the legitimacy and rationality of her power and to smooth over people's opposition.Chapter Two:Focus on the attitude of the scholars towards the reform.While one group of the scholars appeals to the regime and participate in the theory reconstruction;some however fight against with the governing.The scholars' view to the regime is combined with their opinion to the etiquette-music reform.Chapter Three:Deals with the Wu-Zhou literature under the reform.The Empress's guidance to the literature group is to serve the etiquette-music reform;the etiquette-music reform changes scholars' attitude;the attitude change in scholar directly causing the change in literature feature development which leads to the emergence of literature multi-development phenomena in Early Tang.
